Thanks to all of your generous support, and donations from Vinland Valley Nursery, the front beds are now full of perennial plants! Without the bushes blocking the view, we've already seen more traffic in the garden. Now, we're hoping for more pollinator traffic as well!
In the coming days, the students are working hard to prep the new communal seating space, giving new life to a former fountain. Details of note: the flooring will feature a smoothed version of the recently removed roof tiles from Dyche Hall, home to our partners, the KU Natural History Museum; there will be a new bed of perennial plants adjacent to the seating area; and the entrance to the seating space will feature carved stones led by expert stone-sculptor, Karl Ramberg.
There has been a lot happening in the Weaver Courtyard this weekend. The fountain has been excavated and the wall opened up. There has been major progress in removing some existing plants in front of the garden and in the flower beds of the garden.
we are now prepping areas of the garden for new plants which we are picking up this week!
Thank you to Vinland Valley Nursery for donating the native plants we need.
Last week the students also made an excursion to attend a stone sculpting workshop from a well- known local artist. They went to the 2 Sculpt workshop to learn the basics from people who do work all over the world.
Thank you to all our donors who have helped us so far we will share our progress again soon.
