STEM Kits for Kids

For this project, members of all cohorts of the SELF Engineering Leadership Fellowship Program will work together to construct children’s care packages with a STEM “twist”. Our primary goal is to provide learning opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields for need-based children at the University of Kansas Health System Hospital as well as Hilltop and Edna A. Hill Child Development Centers. Inspired by Children's Mercy's "Happy Kits" program, we plan to include items like scientific nonfiction and coloring books, Lego sets, and pre-engineering craft supplies. Each set of 60+ kits will be tailored to the age groups of preschool, school age, and young adult recipients.

While we are all so excited to inspire the new generation of STEM learners, we cannot launch without your help! With each contribution, you will be providing kids with the bridge-building, career-exploring, and mind-puzzling activities to get them excited for a future in STEM.
