The Medical Arts Symphony provides artistic and cultural enrichment for greater Kansas City metropolitan residents thanks to the physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, healthcare students, and other musicians willing to share their talents.

We need your support to continue this rich cultural tradition within our community!

We would love to have you join us at one of our upcoming concerts:

• Saturday, October 14 - Ives Second Symphony and two vocal pieces by Mahler.
• Saturday, December 9 - Medical student Liam Carroll will play the Mozart 3rd Violin Concerto.
• Saturday, February 17 - will feature the Stamitz Viola Concerto.
• Saturday, April 20 - the newly formed Medical Arts Symphony Chorus willsing the Schubert Mass in G. This concert also features the Debussy Preludes.

All concerts start at 7:30 pm in Battenfeld Auditorium, 1000 Olathe Boulevard, Kansas City, Kansas 66103. Parking is available in Lots Z1 and P2. Pre-concert talks at 6:45pm in the lobby.

The Medical Arts Symphony began in 1959 when Eleanor Sharp and some of her colleagues at the University of Kansas Medical Center decided to share their avocation of symphonic music with their professions in healthcare. Since its founding, the Symphony has not wavered from its dual mission of providing an opportunity for amateur musicians to perform great works of Western music and enriching the cultural life of Kansas City by presenting free concerts, including premier performances of works by local composers. For thirty years, the orchestra was conducted by Leopold Shopmaker, who was succeeded by Dr. Merton Shatzkin in 1989. John Bell assumed the reins in 2013. Steve Lewis is the current Music Director.
