As we celebrate 100 years, the Department of Theatre & Dance looks forward to what is possible on our stages in the next century. Your support gives future KU students a competitive advantage as they enter the workforce. Every dollar to the Centennial Fund supports the productions on our stages, equipping emerging actors, designers and dancers with training and professional-quality experiences.
Gifts to the Centennial Production Fund will allow the Department to:
Jayhawks in the Department of Theatre & Dance receive education and mentorship in a close-knit, professional environment, with opportunities for national and international exposure as well as opportunities to perform or design for public audiences on campus.
KU alums have performed on and off Broadway, on local and national television, and in blockbuster Hollywood films. Many others have worked (and continue to) in other roles in the industry as actors, dancers, choreographers, designers, technicians, writers, directors, dramaturgs, casting agents, producers and stage managers. Still others share what they’ve learned by teaching at schools and universities around the world.
Thanks to generations of supporters like you, we stand on a strong foundation of artistic excellence and training. You hold the power to make our students’ dreams a reality. Our students have enjoyed a century of standing ovations. Your continued partnership can keep the applause going in the future. Help us celebrate the legacy of the University Theatre, which has always been central to the Jayhawk experience.
Make your gift today. Thank you. Ever onward, Jayhawks! To another 100 years!
In 1923, a ticket to our first production, The Devil’s Disciple at the Bowersock Theatre, cost $1. Today, our top ticket price is $25, with discounts for students, seniors, and KU employees. Help us keep theatre affordable for our community!
Charles “Buddy” Rogers graced the KU stage before starring opposite Clara Bow in Wings (1927), the first film ever to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. A century later numerous KU alums have made their mark on stage and screen, thanks to the support of stars like you.
The perfect donation to mark 100 Years of KU Theatre. Help us secure the next 100!
More than 3,000 KU students have acted on our stages since 1923. Your gift allows us to provide this transformative experience to future generations and to cultivate a culture where young artists are encouraged to dream of the future they want to see in the industry.
