Student Senate Platform Development

Each academic year, Student Senate focuses on platforms decided by the student body president and vice president, who are democratically elected by KU students. Student Senate does not reserve funds for its own platform development due to the prioritization of other student organizations and the time constraints of when fees are reviewed. 

The Student Body President and Vice-President ran on four platforms: Infrastructure & Safety, Student Life, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging) and Sustainability. All of these platforms were inspired by our goals to further support and better student life and the overall environment of our university campus.

With donor support, we'd like to back our platforms by implementing more places for student life and engagement to prosper. These additions would include things such as a pool table for the Hawk's Nest in the Kansas Memorial Union, as well as working to create more outdoor seating areas around campus. We'd like to install hammocks up around Potter Lake and have more seating options available on campus for students to enjoy the beauty campus has to offer.
