During her eight years as chancellor, Bernadette Gray-Little inspired positive change at the University of Kansas. She did this exuding grace, wisdom and collegiality.
Under her leadership, the university created new admission standards and curriculum guidelines; gained national designations for our cancer and Alzheimer’s centers; completed the largest educational fundraising campaign in state history; and transformed our campuses with new and renovated facilities.
Chancellor Gray-Little leaves KU at the end of the 2017 academic year, but her legacy will continue in perpetuity. We invite you to honor the chancellor by making a gift to one of the areas she championed.
A key goal of the university’s strategic plan is recruiting top doctoral students. The Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowships provide a stipend to students, and cover tuition and fees.
“One of our unique missions as a flagship research university is to provide advanced education to students in a range of fields. Providing this additional support to doctoral students will not only help them complete their degrees on schedule, but will also make KU more competitive when recruiting the next generation of scholars.” —Chancellor Gray-Little
The chancellor created this fund in honor of her mother, Rosalie Lanier Gray. This fund provides emergency assistance for staff members who are struggling due to a natural or personal disaster that has caused financial hardship.
“Staff are the bedrock of our university and contribute to every aspect of our mission. But when emergencies happen, we all need someplace to turn for assistance. This fund was created to provide emergency assistance to KU staff members who are facing financial hardship due to natural or personal disasters.” —Chancellor Gray-Little
