Help Support Jayhawk Health Initiative 2018

Jayhawk Health Initiative a program at KU which aims to provide pre-health students with an opportunity to enhance their pre-health knowledge by engaging in experiential learning. Currently, our main program is our annual Global Brigrades Medical Brigade to Nicaragua, which will take place on May 19, 2018. During the brigade, we volunteer in a medical clinic in rural Nicaragua, assisting doctors, dentists, and pharmacist in giving basic care to those that do not normally have access to these types of services. 

JHI is responsible for fundraising throughout the year and collecting donations to support our KU students engagement on these trips. Each patient we see receives a hygiene pack and a 60 day supply of vitamins, along with any other medications prescribed by our volunteer physicians.

We plan on using the money raised through LaunchKU to pay fees and provide scholarships to KU student brigaders for this specific brigade. Jayhawk Health Initiative also has a positive relationship with the Lawrence community and is expanding its mission to other communities as well. With this growth, we have seen increased support for our organization in multiple ways.
