The University of Kansas Cancer Center aims to fundamentally transform cancer – to give all people in our region greater access to breakthrough ideas and novel treatments. In 2012, we became the 67th cancer center to be designated by the National Cancer Institute. Today there are 71 NCI-designated cancer centers.

Last September, we completed an exhaustive multi-year effort to submit our 1,700-page application to the National Cancer Institute for “comprehensive” cancer center status for consideration of:
•    renewal of our National Cancer Institute designation, and
•    the addition of Comprehensive Cancer Center status – the highest honor bestowed by the National Cancer Institute.

We are thrilled to announce that The University of Kansas Cancer Center has received National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center designation. This is the highest level of recognition awarded by the NCI and is the gold standard for cancer centers. We are now one of 53 cancer centers with NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center designation.

Comprehensive designation is a crucial milestone in our journey to conquer all cancers. With comprehensive designation, we have increased access to more federal funding and research dollars, which helps us grow and retain our team of internationally renowned researchers and physician-scientists.

Celebrate this amazing achievement with us by making a gift that will help us stop cancer in its tracks. We are so grateful for our community of supporters. Thank you!
