Braille and Large Print Guides for Audio-Reader Listeners

Due to growing our listenership we are facing an increased need for Braille and Large Print Guides. To assist the production of these guides we have launched a campaign and need your support to make this a success. A very generous Audio-Reader is offering a dollar-for-dollar match up to $2,500!

Audio-Reader’s blind listeners depend on the Braille Program Guide to help them make informed decisions about the newspapers, books and magazine articles available on the Audio-Reader broadcast. Recently a listener from Topeka called in and thanked us for the Braille guide. “I need my guide,” she said, “My memory’s not so good anymore and it helps me know what’s happening throughout the day.” It’s an important tool that our listeners depend on.

In addition to our Braille Program Guides, we also provide Large Print Program Guides to our listeners who have some sight remaining, or those who have caregivers who assist them with their daily activities. These large print guides are formatted very simply so they are easy to read and understand. One daughter is a caregiver for her mother who lost her sight due to macular degeneration. She told us last year “My mom and I regularly listen to our local news and the Breakfast Table Times. She also likes the store ads. I use the guide as another opportunity to connect with her by talking about what we’ll listen to when.”
