Former KU Basketball player, Blaine Hollinger, reminisces about his time as an athlete and student at the University of Kansas, and shares the importance of preserving those memories. Hollinger’s senior season was the first year of basketball in Allen Fieldhouse.
Max Falkenstien, radio sports announcer at the University of Kansas from 1946-2006, shares memories of legendary Coach Phog Allen and the importance of preserving the history of basketball at KU. In his sixty-year career at KU, Falkenstien covered more than 1,750 men's basketball games, which included every game played in Allen Fieldhouse until his retirement.
KMBC Channel 9 visited the University Archives to get a glimpse of a few of the 66,000 artifacts included in the digitization project. The story, aired today, featured KU Libraries efforts to raise funds to preserve the history of Phog Allen and basketball at the University of Kansas.
