Alicia Ann Clair, Ph.D., a dedicated teacher, mentor and award-winning researcher, built the foundation of the music therapy program at the University of Kansas. After joining the KU faculty in 1975, she served as a professor, division director of music education and music therapy, coordinator of graduate studies in music education and music therapy, and research associate in gerontology. She is the recipient of many awards and honors, including the KU Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the KU Mortar Board Society’s Award for Teaching Excellence. She has received national awards from the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) for research, professional practice and service, as well as the AMTA Presidential Award for service on the Commission for Education and Training. The Department of Veteran Affairs has lauded her both locally and nationally with the Special Contribution Award for Research, the Performance Award and the Teamwork Award.

Please help us honor Dr. Clair’s legacy, by reaching the goal of endowing this scholarship by helping us fundraise the final $6,000. With your support, countless generations of deserving Jayhawks will get the financial assistance that they need to study music therapy.
