Thank you for your support of the Katherine Pryor Student Emergency Fund. The generosity of donors like you, including members of our vibrant Friends of the Theatre (FROTH) nonprofit organization, significantly increases the yearly aid for students at times when they need it the most when no other options exist.
Supporting theatre students who need help with critical expenses seemed the most fitting way to honor the 40-year career of Director of Theatre Katherine (Kathy) Pryor, who has announced her retirement date as May 2022. FROTH and the Department of Theatre & Dance are pleased to honor the impact she has had on so many Jayhawks with the Katherine Pryor Student Emergency Fund. FROTH, which spearheaded the campaign, received 100% participation from its Board of Directors in the fundraiser, and to see so many members give to the fund was extra meaningful, especially during these times.
The Katherine Pryor Student Emergency Fund offers a unique opportunity to donors to provide immediate cash support to students in crises, year after year. This endowed fund creates a bridge to successful graduation by relieving the burden of unexpected impediments/expenses that would otherwise threaten student success. The fund will prioritize students who identify as members from underrepresented, marginalized or historically oppressed communities, groups that reflect Kathy’s passion, as well as the Department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging.
This endowed fund helps assure that critical financial expenses can be covered, year after year, for students in crises. Thank you! Together we raised $46,130 to date! To view our Donor Wall, please visit launchku.org/pryor.
Your continued support to FROTH and the Department of Theatre & Dance is meaningful and valued. Thanks again for your support of our students!
Sincerely,
Henry C Bial, Chair
Department of Theatre & Dance
