Studio 804 Project Update

October 19, 2021

Hello all,

Thank you so much for supporting Studio 804 students through our LaunchKU campaign. Your donation will undoubtedly make an impact on the 31 students involved.

There has been an update on this year’s project: The Studio 804 class of 2022 was planning on completing two projects this year from the beginning, Monarch Village being one and a residence on Indiana street in Lawrence being the other. Due to timeline conflicts that have affected the funding stream at the Lawrence Shelter, we must shift our focus and devote all our efforts on the residence build.

With the uncertainty of the future of the project with the Lawrence Community Shelter, we wanted to ensure you that your donation towards the Studio 804 program will still provide an invaluable experience for these students while they complete another remarkable build in our community. There is truly no other program like this, and we are grateful for our supporters that help make this dream a reality.

Thank you all, please reach out if you have any questions.

Best,
Studio 804 class of 2022

Metropolis Planet Positive Award

October 05, 2021

Thank you all so much for your support in our campaign to bring more housing options to the Lawrence Community Shelter. With your donations, we are close to reaching 10% of our goal!

I am more than excited to share that Phase I of Monarch Village recently received a Planet Positive Award from Metropolis. The Planet Positive Awards recognize the most creative projects and products from around the world that benefit people and planet. The awards are given to represent the highest achievements today in design that address climate change, ecosystem health, human health and equity.

Phase I of Monarch Village is the top winner in the multifamily category, meaning our project met the challenges that come with sheltering the unhoused using resource-efficient strategies that do not contribute to the climate crisis. The twelve tiny homes are the first of their kind in North America to feature full, private bathrooms for residents.

With your contribution we can begin adding ten more of these unique tiny homes to the Lawrence Community Shelter. Help us reach our goal to further the precedent of sustainable and dignified housing for the unsheltered.

Thank you,
Emi from Studio 804 Inc.
