Celebrate Bob Emerson

Senior Associate Dean Robert L. Emerson has announced his retirement and is transitioning to a part-time role supporting alumni relations at the KU School of Pharmacy. Dr. Emerson, a native of Oklahoma, earned his bachelor’s and Pharm.D. degrees from the KU School of Pharmacy. He first joined the KU faculty in 1999 after serving as a pharmacist at KU’s Watkins Health Services.

Dean of Pharmacy Ronald Ragan described Dr. Emerson as an advocate for students, assuring they are practice ready when they graduate. Dean Ragan also said Dr. Emerson was well respected by faculty in science departments and pharmacy practice alike. “He is passionate about pharmacy, education and students,” said Ragan.

Prior to pharmacy school, Dr. Emerson served the Tulsa community as an EMT-paramedic for four years. He began his pharmacy career as a retail pharmacist in Dallas. His first role on faculty at KU was clinical assistant professor and the coordinator of the Pharmacy Skills Laboratory for eight years before starting up the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) program, as assistant dean for experiential education. Dr. Emerson had a brief stint as an assistant dean at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy before spending the last 11 years heading up the KU School of Pharmacy’s campus in Wichita.

Please join us in honoring Dr. Emerson and his Jayhawk legacy with a donation to the BOB EMERSON FUND, which will support students in the KU School of Pharmacy.
