Cultivating Our Futures: Send Black Student Union to Conference

The Black Student Union was created at the University of Kansas in 1968 to nurture a fun and welcoming environment for, but not exclusively limited to, black students. We work to build leaders with a voice to speak up on issues they believe need to be addressed. The Black Student Union is a notable organization because, by the time members end their journey at KU, we hope that they have grown into virtuous people.

Every year, Black Student Unions from the Big 12 Conference come together in recognition that they are suffering from similar problems at their respective institutions. Each year, an institution of the Big XII Council on Black Student Government hosts an Annual Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government.

Members of our Black Student Union will travel to Iowa State University for a weekend full of breakout sessions, keynote speakers, a formal dinner, and a social event. The conference will allow our members to grow with each other and with members from other BSUs in the Big 12 Conference. The ideas shared and knowledge taken away from the conference will have a lasting impact on each member who attends and their respective schools!

The cost of attending our annual conference is high, and gifts from this fundraiser will be used to cover travel fees, hotel fees, and individual fees. With your help, we can ensure that our members will attend this inspiring event where they can build skills to improve and learn from powerful keynote speakers and fellow black scholars.

Make your gift today to help KU students attend an exciting and impactful experience at the Big Twelve Conference at Iowa State University!
