JaySTART Pro Bono Clinic (Student Teaching and Rehabilitation Training)

JaySTART (Student Teaching And Rehabilitation Training) Clinic is a student-run pro bono clinic offering free physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to underinsured and uninsured populations in the Kansas City metro area. 

Our interdisciplinary clinic offers students-in-training the opportunity to work with licensed clinicians to provide rehabilitation services in person and via telehealth. We also utilize Spanish medical interpreters to overcome language barriers. We address a wide variety of health conditions - from acute injuries and health events to chronic pain and everything in between. Students are able to put their knowledge into practice by assessing patients’ musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities and implementing therapeutic treatments. 

Underinsured and uninsured populations face numerous barriers to accessing healthcare including financial constraints, lack of insurance coverage or lack of transportation to attend appointments. By providing free physical therapy services in the KC Metro area, we help patients overcome these obstacles and ensure they receive the care they require to improve their independence, reduce pain and restore their quality of life. 

Contributions received will be allocated to facilitate an array of initiatives including: 

• Providing equipment to uninsured/underinsured clients
• Improving our facilities
• Disbursement of scholarships to Student Administrators
• Compensation for medical interpreters. 
• Our ultimate long-term goal is to fund a significant expansion of the clinic space in order to provide care to more patients and tackle our ever-growing wait list. 

There is a substantial need for pro bono healthcare services in the KC Metro area, and we help to bridge that gap by providing therapy services to patients who may otherwise slip through the cracks. By supporting us through your donations, you enable us to provide excellent care and fulfill our mission to enhance the lives of our patients.
