After 31 years as a faculty member at the University of Kansas, and over a decade of exceptional leadership as Chair of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Dr. Eric Elsinghorst is retiring. To honor his remarkable contributions, we invite you to make a gift in his name to the CLS Scholarship and Student Support Fund — a fund that supports students pursuing careers in clinical laboratory sciences (MLS, DMS, and DCLS programs).
Since taking the helm in 2013, Dr. Elsinghorst has helped shape the department’s national reputation for excellence. He championed the development of the Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (DCLS) program, with KU Med becoming only the third institution in the country to offer this advanced degree. His earlier work supported the launch of the Molecular Biotechnology concentration in 2001, which became a cornerstone of the department’s innovation efforts and one of the first two DMS programs in the country. He was instrumental in the expansion of the department faculty to accommodate larger MLS program cohorts and the shift to online accessibility for the DCLS program to be a national offering.
Dr. Elsinghorst's tenure has been defined by visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to student success. A gift in his honor will directly support scholarships for students in all CLS programs, helping ease financial burdens and enabling them to focus on academic and professional growth.
Every gift makes a difference in the life of a student and helps sustain the legacy Dr. Elsinghorst leaves behind.
Join us in celebrating a career dedicated to education, innovation, and service.
Thank you for your support. #KUCLS #Lab4Life
