JaySTART Pro Bono Clinic (Student Teaching and Rehabilitation Training)

JaySTART (Student Teaching And Rehabilitation Training) Clinic is a student-run pro bono clinic offering free physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to underinsured and uninsured populations in the Kansas City metro area. 

Our interdisciplinary approach allows students in training to collaborate with licensed clinicians, providing rehabilitation services both in-person and via telehealth. We serve a wide range of health needs—ranging from acute injuries and health conditions to chronic pain and everything in between. Students apply their classroom knowledge by assessing patients' musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiopulmonary, cognitive, and psychosocial abilities, while implementing therapeutic treatments designed to improve outcomes.

Underinsured and uninsured individuals face numerous challenges when accessing healthcare, such as financial limitations, insufficient insurance coverage, and difficulties with transportation. By offering free therapy services to the Kansas City community, we help overcome these barriers, ensuring that patients receive the care they need to regain their independence, alleviate pain and enhance their quality of life.

Contributions received will go toward vital initiatives including: 

• Purchasing equipment for uninsured or underinsured clients
• Upgrading our facilities
• Funding scholarships for Student Administrators
• Compensation for medical interpreters. 
• Our long-term goal is to expand the clinic space significantly, allowing us to serve more patients and address the growing waitlist.
