Rock Chalk Zuni Youth

A fellow Jayhawk needs our help!

Joe Claunch graduated from KU in May 2016 with a PhD in Sport & Exercise Psychology. He now serves as the Director of the Zuni Youth Enrichment Program, heading up a positive youth development program on the Zuni Pueblo Reservation in New Mexico. The children he works with have limited opportunities and resources. The Zuni Youth Enrichment Program provides opportunities for children to participate in a quality youth sport program that incorporates positive life skills.

The program has much potential, but Joe is challenged by limited resources. He has invited a group of Jayhawks from the KU Sport & Exercise Psychology Lab to travel to Zuni to educate and train the volunteer coaches who help him run the three sport program. The travel team would also assist Joe in developing a strong assessment plan to gauge the impact of the program on the children. The assessment information would help Joe apply for more grant funding.

Please consider making a gift today to help cover the cost of travel expenses for the KU team to visit Zuni, as well as materials and equipment needed to train the coaches. Choose a giving level associated with one of our Native KU game changers or make a gift of any size that’s meaningful to you.
