Each year, the palliative medicine fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center sends our three fellows to the major national conference for our field. At the Annual Assembly held by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, our fellows will be able to network with their peers, interact with notable faculty from around the country, and learn the latest in palliative medicine. In addition, they will be able to proudly represent the University of Kansas Medical Center and the strong work being done here in palliative care. Palliative care, if you are not familiar, is the specialized medical care for people living with serious illness. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
